Run Forever
Run Forever has teamed up with today to debut their new track, “Weight Under Me.” The song is taken from the band’s upcoming self-titled, full-length record that’s due out on October 9th on No Sleep Records. Pre-orders are available now at iTunes and
“I’d never written a song based on a movie before but I wrote “Weight Under Me” after watching ‘The Virgin Suicides,’ says singer/guitarist Anthony Heubel. “I’ve always tried to write from a place of first hand experience, but like I think a lot of people do, I really related to the movie. And to the manifested idea of the perfect, homogenized anywhere, USA they could have been living in. The warm blanket of the American dream creeping in and upscaling every neighborhood into neat little rows of houses, groomed shrubs, and imposed happiness. And religion too, of course. It’s easy to look around and see all of that still happening now.”
“Weight Under Me” follows the band’s previously released songs “Big Vacation” and “Separate Bedrooms,” and is one of 11 new songs on the band’s breakout record that was produced by HUM’s Matt Talbott and Kyle Gilbride (Waxahatchee).

Copeland Announces Tour with Eisley and We Are The City

Copeland has announced a Fall U.S. tour with support from Eisley and We Are The City. The tour, which is the band’s first headlining run since their official break-up in 2009, is set to kick off on November 5th in Nashville, TN and wrap on December 6th in Orlando, FL. Fans can purchase pre-sale VIP tickets this Friday, September 11th at

Copeland spent much of 2014 working on new music, pulling some tracks from older material they’d set aside — one song, “Like I Want You,” Aaron found in a folder on his computer from 2009 and appears on the Ixora as a bonus track. Bryan and Stephen spent eight weeks in Florida at Aaron’s studio with Aaron at the helm of the production. “It was like picking up where we left off,” Aaron notes. The final ten-track album was also mixed by Michael Brauer, who has worked with everyone from Bob Dylan to Coldplay, at Electric Lady in New York.

Copeland, consisting of Aaron Marsh, Bryan Laurenson, and Stephen Laurenson, formed in Lakeland, Florida in 2001. The band’s first album, Beneath Medicine Tree, came out in 2003 on the indie label The Militia Group. The album’s layered melodies, combined with Marsh’s thoughtful, emotive croon, immediately engaged music fans, offering a nuanced take on the emo music of the early ‘00s. The group unveiled four subsequent albums between 2005 and 2008, including Eat, Sleep, Repeat on Columbia Records in 2006.

Copeland signed with Tooth & Nail in 2008 and partnered with the label to release their long awaited sixth album, Ixora. Released on November 24th, Ixora charted at #10 on the Billboard Alternative Charts, as well as charting on the CMJ Top 100 Radio Charts. In their heyday, the band played over 200 shows a year. Additionally, they’ve toured with the likes of Brand New, Sparta, Goo Goo Dolls, The Rentals, Bob Mould, Switchfoot, Motion City Soundtrack and Guster.

Copeland released their latest album Ixora on November 24th, 2014 via Tooth & Nail Records. Purchase Ixora via Best Buy or iTunes.

St. Anthony Hospital Sues To Stop Riot Fest

Riot Fest is scheduled to open in Douglas Park on the city’s West Side this coming weekend but apparently St. Anthony Hospital has decided they don’t want it to happen. Attorneys for the hospital asked a federal judge to block the three-day festival from taking place. They filed a federal lawsuit and motion for a temporary restraining order against Riot Fest on Friday. St Anthony’s alleges that the Riot Fest would compromise the safety of patients with its “extreme” noise, disrupt the neighborhood, and cause congestion.

Chris Mather, a spokeswoman for Riot Fest, criticized the hospital’s lawsuit Saturday, stating that  “attorneys for St. Anthony stated that they would file a lawsuit to seek to stop the festival unless the hospital was paid $158,000.”

St. Anthony Hospital has denied the claims and spokesperson, Kathryn Grosso, says “We are not going to resort to name-calling and mudslinging. However, Riot Fest is lying, plain and simple.”

Mather said Riot Fest had worked with the hospital to address their concerns and agreed to move the festival entrances and stages to accommodate.

Mather stated, “Based on the work and cooperation with St. Anthony’s Hospital, community representatives and Aldermen Cardenas, Scott and Ervin, Riot Fest was granted all required permits and approvals from the City (of) Chicago and the various offices and departments involved in the permitting process.”

Grosso claims, ”Saint Anthony’s reached out many times to the organizers of Riot Fest to voice their concerns, and Riot Fest made promises that they would abate the noise. Those promises were broken.”

She adds, “The bottom line is that Saint Anthony’s patients will not be able to peacefully heal when being forced to listen to heavy metal, rap and rock music blaring from stacked amplifiers just a few 100 feet away.”

About Slayer
For more than three decades, Slayer’s onslaught has proven the band to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet. The two-time Grammy-winners have also accumulated an abundance of Certified Gold Albums along with “Best…” awards from media outlets all over the world, including Kerrang!SPINMetal HammerRevolver, and Esquire.  Throughout Slayer’s history, the band has never faltered in unleashing its extreme and focused sonic assault, and, unlike many of its contemporaries who “commercialized” their sound, Slayer has remained crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the mainstream.  Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in since.  Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer’s drummer from ’94 – ’01, has rejoined bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King, and is back behind the kit. Slayer is set to release “Relentless,” its 11th studio album on 9/11/15, which Guitar World has already declared as “The Metal Album of The Year.”

Failure to Tour as Four-Piece in October, Announce CMJ & Soundwave Performances

Failure return to the road in support of The Heart Is A Monster this October with a special friend in tow, former touring band member, Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age). Van Leeuwen was a touring member behind Fantastic Planet and played on four of the songs from The Heart Is A Monster.

“This is a very special tour to me for a couple of reasons,” says singer/guitar player Ken Andrews.  “One reason is the fact that we have some very cool bands joining us: Hum, Torche, Local H, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. The second reason this tour is so special to me is that we have managed to secure our dear friend and former band mate, Troy Van Leeuwen as the fourth member of Failure for this tour.  I’m personally excited by this as it’s going to allow us to expand our live sound and repertoire. Think “Snow Angel” and “I Can See Houses” from The Heart Is A Monster, as well as a few gems from the past like our cover of “Enjoy The Silence.”

Failure has also confirmed their Australian live debut with an outing on Soundwave 2016.  Soundwaves Founder AJ Maddah took to Twitter and personally confirmed Failure’s appearance, saying “Getting Failure to play Soundwave 2015 is my personal definition of success!  Fantastic Planet changed my life.”

The band, who wrapped up an extensive North American in support of the recently released album share footage from their Austin performance, with clips of “Mulholland Dr.” ( and “Wet Gravity” ( The album, which is the culmination of a reunion for the space rock trio that kicked off in February 2014, was released in June. Rolling Stone said the release “brilliantly picks up where Fantastic Planet left off,” Alternative Press said “by reviving its past, Failure has taken a most decisive step into the present and Entertainment Weekly described The Heart Is A Monster as “a jaw-dropping slab of throbbing, fuzzy, visceral space rock.”

Tigerwine premiere music video for “Sharp Elbows”

TigerwineColorado’s Tigerwine premiered a music video for their single, “Sharp Elbows.” from their debut EP, Lull.

Frontman Hayden Trobee comments:
“Sharp Elbows’ is about being fed up. I grew up in church and this song was written at a time in my life when my family had our lives uprooted by people I saw as having an almost alien way about them. People who say and do all the right things but behind closed doors are inhumanly cruel. People who it seems almost always, inexplicably, are involved with such institutions.”

Tigerwine’s Lull EP is available now via Blood & Ink Records.
