The Black Queen Debut “Ice to Never” Video via Noisey

The Black Queen

The Black Queen, the LA-based high art, electronic-meets-R&B trio, debuted their ‘80s-inspired, flashback clip for the outfit’s new single “Ice To Never” via Noisey (http://noisey.vice.com/blog/black-queen-video-ice-to-never).

The clip, which was directed by longtime Nine Inch Nails art director/videographer Rob Sheridan, findsThe Black Queen producer/programmer, Steven Alexander on foot, touring downtown Los Angeles, with magical boom box in tow.

“The bulk of this album was written and recorded living together in a desolate industrial area of downtown LA, a few blocks from skid row, so it felt right to incorporate the area into the video,” explained singer Greg Puciato.

“Our lives at the time were also each in this sort of insular but necessary ‘dark night of the soul’ type of rebuilding period, but this song in particular coming together carried a moment of uplift with it,” continues Puciato. “Musically, lyrically, overall energy. The juxtaposition felt tangibly surreal. We wanted to marry all of that together in the video. There is positive energy in the skid row shots. It’s there in reality. In any instance where there is the hope that comes from the camaraderie of a group struggle. The end ocean scene can be a symbol of many things. The ominous unknown, or the prize to which people blindly and unwaveringly aspire to; the top. Or it’s the mistake of trying to do everything alone. Any and all of those can magnetize and then swallow and destroy you. Rob did an amazing job with the concept, as well as with adding visual period piece nods to the time that we all grew our roots in.”

The trio released the single, “The End Where We Start,” in early summer, with programmer/multi-instrumentalist Josh Eustis giving Rolling Stone a sense of the band’s musical compass, saying, “Originally we had envisioned this project being something much more gauzy and probably guitar-oriented, but at some point it just took a left turn and became very electronic. “

Fever Daydream,The Black Queen’s debut album will see an early 2016 release with more details to come.  Digital downloads of both “Ice To Never” and “The End Where We Start” are available via iTunes:https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/the-black-queen/id998761928.

Alexisonfire announce official reunion

Alexisonfire

During their set at Riot Fest Toronto earlier this evening, Canadian-natives Alexisonfire announced that they have officially reunited. “Thank you for believing in this band when we couldn’t even believe in this band,” guitarist Wade MacNeil said to an immaculate crowd. “Thank you for sticking with us. We promise to never leave you again. No more sentimental shit. Alexisonfire is officially back.”

Alexisonfire announced their breakup in August of 2011, which they followed with several farewell shows in 2012. They released two exclusive vinyl boxsets since the breakup, the first of which (limited to 1,000 copies) sold out in about 30 minutes.

Alexisonfire revealed earlier this year that they would be reuniting for a handful of worldwide festival performances, but it was unclear if they were back for good.

Le Butcherettes “A Raw Youth” Released Today

Le Butcherettes

Le Butcherettes, the captivating El Paso-based, Guadalajara-born trio release A Raw Youth today via Ipecac Recordings (physical:http://bit.ly/1JmtaCP; digital: http://hyperurl.co/cfvgxi).

The album, the band’s third release, focuses on “the recurring conflict between minorities (the raw youths) and society: The oppressor and the oppressed” as Le Butcherettes’ mastermind and front woman Teri Gender Bender explains. A pair of singles: “Shave The Pride” (https://youtu.be/0KWDHLjkzdk) and “They F*** You Over” (https://soundcloud.com/ipecacrecordings/they-fuck-you-over) were shared in advance of release.  In what seems to be a theme with Le Butcherettes’ releases, two guest stars also join the fray: Iggy Pop on “La Uva” and John Frusciante on “My Half.” A Raw Youth was recorded at RLP Studios (The Morgue Portable Disaster Unit) in El Paso with producer Omar Rodriguez Lopez.

Le Butcherettes spent the summer touring with the Melvins on the Chaos as Usual tour; a pairing that was deemed “a spiritual kinship” (Consequence of Sound), “incredibly eclectic” (Phoenix New Times) and “an absolute blast” (Dallas Observer). The bill birthed one tour only 10-inch and dozens of videos of Gender Bender fronting the Melvins for a cover of Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl” (https://youtu.be/wprzoG9eZnU).

The band is about to head out on a series of headlining dates, both in the western U.S. and Europe:

RUN FOREVER DEBUTS “IVORY” WITH BROOKLYNVEGAN.COM

RUN FOREVER
Pittsburgh’s rising indie-rock band Run Forever has released a new song called “Ivory” today with BrooklynVegan.com. The song is featured on the band’s upcoming, self-titled album that’s due out on October 9th from No Sleep Records. Album pre-orders are available now at iTunes and nslp.co/runforeverst.
STREAM “IVORY” NOW AT BROOKLYNVEGAN.COM: http://bit.ly/1UYJRtN
“Ivory is kind of a mix of a bunch of different events put into one song,” says singer/guitarist Anthony Heubel. “I got a phone call when we were in Texas that a friend I grew up with had died, so that’s a big part of it. Some of it’s about the disconnect of being on tour, and using that as a way to block things out sometimes. There are some other secret lines in there too.”
Run Forever’s forthcoming, breakout record features 11 new songs like “Weight Under Me,” “Big Vacation” and “Separate Bedrooms.” The record was produced by HUM’s Matt Talbott and Kyle Gilbride (Waxahatchee).

All Them Witches Stream “Open Passageways” via Consequence of Sound

All Them Witches

All Them Witches, the Nashville-based band who have self-dubbed their music as delta-psych and cosmic desert rock, share new song “Open Passageways” via Consequence of Sound.  The track, which Consequence of Sound describes as “a captivating piece of rock that is as subtle as it is explosive,” comes from band’s New West Records’ debut, Dying Surfer Meets His Maker(Oct. 30).

“’Open Passageways’ is just one chapter of Dying Surfer Meets His Maker,” explains singer/bass player Michael Parks Jr.  “While the songs may be enjoyed individually, in my mind, the balance is only complete when the album is played as a whole. Imagine an alternate universe (not unlike our own) where the forces of choice and chance are palpable, and manifest in solid form to live out their destinies, just as anyone of us would. Intangibles awaken in this world, blind to its fragility, and try their hands at being human at any cost.  This specific chapter is about the movement of people to find something better, instead of fixing what they already have and in turn, unknowingly dig their proverbial ‘grave’ deeper and deeper.”

All Them Witches, who are known for their unpredictable and moody live shows including a storied Halloween performance that lapsed the two hour mark, recently played Loufest, a hardly-standing room hometown shindig at Live On The Green and Bonnaroo, where the band was handicapped as ones to watch by Fuse, American Songwriter and the Nashville Scene amongst others. The quartet has a busy fall ahead of them with performances at both the Midpoint Music Festival and the Louder Than Life Music Festival before joining Kadavar and The Sword for a month of dates and then embarking on a six-week headlining run.

Pre-orders for the nine-song album are available now with physical pre-orders available via Amazon (CD: http://smarturl.it/DSMHMcd; vinyl: http://smarturl.it/DSMHMvinyl) and digital pre-orders available via this link: http://smarturl.it/DSMHM. Le Butcherettes Streaming New Album, A Raw Youth, via Noisey

Le Butcherettes
Le Butcherettes stream their new album, A Raw Youth (Sept. 18, Ipecac), via Noisey: http://noisey.vice.com/blog/le-butcherettes-interview-a-raw-youth.
In the accompanying interview, Teri Gender Bender discusses the premise behind the album which she describes as “an ode to rebels throughout history who fought for what they believed in, despite being murdered or having their families castrated or imprisoned.” She also talks about working with Iggy Pop on the song “La Uva” and her move to El Paso.
A Raw Youth pre-orders are available via iTunes (http://apple.co/1gmgv5o), Amazon (http://amzn.com/B011O32L8A) and GooglePlay (http://bit.ly/1FIhNyg).

The LA Weekly dubbed her the “most volatile woman in rock” and the Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot proclaimed her a “breakout star.” Admirer Henry Rollins, in a 2014 interview with the Los Angeles Times said, “She’s a star. It’s like a great character in a movie.  You want to know what happens when the movie is over. You want to know the rest of the story.”
The band, rounded out by drummer Chris Common and bass player Jamie Aaron Aux, recorded the album at RLP Studios (The Morgue Portable Disaster Unit) in El Paso, Texas.  Omar Rodriguez Lopez once again produced, as he has done for both previous Le Butcherettes’ releases.
